In \u00a0the project \u00a0we\u00a0 disclosed over\u00a0 2500 \u00a0hours \u00a0of \u00a0radio \u00a0broadcasts \u00a0from \u00a0the \u00a0Omrop \u00a0Frysl\u00e2n \u00a0(Frisian \u00a0Broadcast). \u00a0The \u00a0radio \u00a0broadcasts \u00a0contain \u00a0spoken \u00a0Frisian \u00a0and \u00a0Dutch \u00a0covering \u00a0the \u00a0period \u00a01950\u20132000.\u00a0 We are working on a follow-up.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0 used\u00a0 speech \u00a0technology \u00a0for \u00a0spoken \u00a0document \u00a0retrieval \u00a0(speech \u00a0to \u00a0text \u00a0conversion) \u00a0and \u00a0for \u00a0speaker \u00a0tracking \u00a0(speaker \u00a0diarization \u00a0&amp; \u00a0recognition). \u00a0Thus \u00a0we were\u00a0 able \u00a0to \u00a0locate \u00a0broadcasts \u00a0addressing \u00a0specific \u00a0topics \u00a0and \u00a0specific \u00a0speakers \u00a0in \u00a0the \u00a0audio\u00a0signal. \u00a0In \u00a0order \u00a0to \u00a0guarantee \u00a0relevance \u00a0in \u00a0retrieval, \u00a0the \u00a0project\u00a0 also \u00a0developed\u00a0 an \u00a0enriched \u00a0Frisian \u00a0lexicon \u00a0and \u00a0a \u00a0semantic \u00a0search \u00a0engine \u00a0for \u00a0Frisian \u00a0and \u00a0Dutch \u00a0to \u00a0search \u00a0the\u00a0broadcasts. \u00a0The \u00a0non-\u00adacademic \u00a0project \u00a0partners \u00a0acknowledge \u00a0the \u00a0disclosure \u00a0of \u00a0this \u00a0data \u00a0as \u00a0a \u00a0rich \u00a0source \u00a0of \u00a0Frisian \u00a0cultural \u00a0heritage. \u00a0The \u00a0project \u00a0carried\u00a0 out \u00a0innovative \u00a0research \u00a0since \u00a0it\u00a0 investigated\u00a0 efficiency \u00a0and \u00a0performance \u00a0of: \u00a01. \u00a0Automatic \u00a0Speech \u00a0Recognition \u00a0of \u00a0Frisian \u00a0and \u00a0Dutch \u00a0using \u00a0either \u00a0two \u00a0separate \u00a0recognizers \u00a0or \u00a0a \u00a0hybrid \u00a0one;\u00a0 2. \u00a0the \u00a0integration \u00a0of \u00a0speaker \u00a0diarization \u00a0and \u00a0speaker \u00a0recognition \u00a0applied \u00a0to \u00a0a \u00a0large \u00a0longitudinal \u00a0data \u00a0set\u037e \u00a03. \u00a0a \u00a0flexible \u00a0semantic \u00a0search \u00a0interface \u00a0targeted \u00a0at \u00a0various \u00a0user \u00a0groups. \u00a0In \u00a0all \u00a0these \u00a0topics \u00a0efficient \u00a0processing \u00a0is \u00a0required, \u00a0because \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0sheer \u00a0volume \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0data.<\/p>\n<p>FAME! stands for\u00a0Frisian Audio Mining Enterprise. \u00a0The project is funded by NWO&#8217;s \u00a0Creative Industry\u00a0Programme under project number\u00a0314-99-119.
